This blog has been set up by the Cognitive Science of Religion (CSR) consultation of the American Academy of Religion (AAR) as a communication tool for AAR members interested in studying any of the many cognitive approaches of religions. This blog has been set up by members of the CSR steering committee and does not necessarily reflect the views of the AAR.
This blog is moderated to allow only posts that are on topic, and to weed out discourteous comments.
As a practical matter, three main uses of the blog are envisioned. First, in the months leading up to the AAR's call for papers, this blog can be used to find potential panelists and to discuss topics for panels. For this purpose, a general thread will be created in which the comment feature may be used to suggest topics. The moderators will create separate threads for topics that appear to be sufficiently popular.
Second, threads may periodically be posted on particular topics in CSR, as a way for those interested in the field to have a forum for discussion outside of meetings of the AAR. If this use proves popular, it may be expanded and regular threads added.
Third, announcements relating to CSR may sometimes and sporadically posted here.
Fourth, papers may sometimes be posted or linked in advance of meetings of the AAR, specifically for research sessions in which participants are encouraged to read a paper in advance of the AAR meeting.
